Blackberry Password Setup

Use the following instructions to enable or change the password on your Blackberry. If you need further assistance, please contact the HMS IT Help Desk at 617-432-2000.

Set or Change a Password on a Blackberry 5.0 or newer

  1. Press the Menu/Blackberry button.

  2. Select the Options icon.
  3. Then scroll to Password.
  4. Under Password choose Enabled.
  5. Once you choose enabled it will prompt you to enter in your new password, you will have to input the password twice to confirm.
  6. Press the return key. You will be prompted to save. Click Yes.

If you wish to change the password in the future:

  1. Navigate to the Password option as described above.
  2. Click the box labeled Change Password.
  3. Enter your old password and then your new password twice.
  4. Press the return key. You will be prompted to save. Click Yes.

Older Blackberry OS's

  1. Press the Menu/Blackberry button.

  2. Select the Options icon. It may look either like a small equalizer or a wrench.
  3. Scroll to Security Options.
  4. Under Security Options select General Options.
  5. If Password is disabled, change it to Enabled. Once that is done it should prompt you to enter in the desired password twice to confirm.
  6. Press the return key. You will be prompted to save. Click Yes.

If you wish to change the password in the future:

  1. Select General settings option.
  2. Press the menu button.
  3. Scroll to Change Password.
  4. Enter your old password and then your new password twice.
  5. Remember to save your changes!
